Day 1: Sofia- Koprivshtica – You will be picked –up on the airport and your fist stop will be Koprivshtisa at Sredna Gora Mountains. Koprivshtitsa is a unique museum town with its houses painted in bright colors with expansive verandahs and picturesque eaves. You will see the fine example of National Revival architecture.
Day 2: Plovdiv – Kosovo village. After delicious breakfast your trip will continue to Plovdiv- Sightseeing tour of Old Plovdiv, incl. the Roman amphitheater, the Ethnographic Museum, etc. Lunch and departure to Kosovo village. Now we will try to take you to a place completely unknown to Bulgarian tourists, but so amazing and indescribably beautiful. As if hidden high in the Rhodopes, the village will provide you with one of the most amazing and picturesque views. The name of this earthly paradise is Kosovo.
The houses are so scattered in steps that it is as if they are competing to see which will be higher. The Rhodope Mountains surround you everywhere with their unique nature and fresh air, and each of the villagers greets you with a wide smile and outstretched arms, happy to see strangers. Dinner and overnight.
Day 3 : Shiroka Laka – Lyaskovo. Our trip continues to Shiroka Laka – amazing Rhodope village. Here you will experience the true hospitality of the Rhodope people, you will enjoy the unique, authentic architecture and indescribable, pure nature. Village – an attractive place for tourists, architectural reserve, presenting some of the best examples of the local mountain houses. Аfter Shiroka Laka, Lyaskovo has existed since Thracian and Roman times. This is evidenced by the remains of Thracian settlement mounds, found ceramic vessels and coins dating from the IV century BC. The village is very picturesque with its beautiful white houses, some of which are over 100 years old and have preserved the features of traditional Rhodope architecture. The old mill and the Roman bridges built over the river remind and carry the spirit of ancient history and the rich past. Overnight and dinner
Day 4 : Bachkovo Monastery- Trigrad- Devil’s Throat Cave. Our trip continue to Bachkovo Monastery– Bachkovski Monastery is the second largest Bulgarian monastery and one of the three Bulgarian Stavropegial monasteries. The monastery was established in 1083 by the Great Domestik of Western Byzantine Garrisons, the Georgian, Grigorii Bakuriani. After exploring this marvelous Monastery we will go to Trigrad village. Trigrad is a village with rich history – it originates from three Roman villages which gave its name – Trigrad or Triibria. Many Thracian caves and necropolises are found in the surroundings therefor the village is an attractive destination for tourists and archаelogists. It is famous for the largest and most picturesque gorge in the Rhodope Mountains, which is formed by the incision of the rivers into the rocks. Trigradsko Gorge is declared as protected area with many rock bridges and much more, all located just a kilometer from the village Trigrad. It runs along the river Trigrad whose outflow is so tight and cuts into the rocks which rise up to 350 meters height. This day we will discover Devil’s Throat Cave .Everyone has heard of it in Bulgaria. Devil’s Throat Cave is open all year round for visitors. The temperature is + 8 degrees. The cave is landscaped – it is electrified and the stairs are secured with a concrete railing. The length of the cave is 1 km and the tourist route – 350 m.
Day 5: Yagodinska Cave – Zhrebevo. After breakfast we will visit the Yagodinska Cave. Situated 3 km south-west from the village of Yagodina. Its entrance is made artificially. This is one of the longest and most interesting caves in Bulgaria and the most beautiful in the Rhodopes. There are five levels in Yagodinska Cave with a total length of 10 kilometers. It has become a real tourist attraction – with a 1100-meter path, electricity and a man-made tunnel 30 meters below the natural entrance of the cave. This day you will enjoy a pleasant walking trek to the village of Zhrebevo. A circular trail takes us up panoramic crests, through pine forests dotted with green meadows and smallholdings, sheltered valleys, and traditional stone houses.
Day 6: Dospat-Melnik-Sandanski. Today, we continue to Dospat for short photo pause and boat trip on the lake. After delicious lunch near the lake we continue to Melnik. Melnik – the smallest town in Bulgaria, situated in the south slopes of Pirin, among sand pyramids with queer forms. Melnik is a special place. The first written evidences for the Melnik Fortress refer to the beginning of the 11th century. One of the oldest houses on the Balkan Peninsula is the Boyar’s House which was a residence of Despot Alexius Slav. Here the old times are preserved and wait to be discovered. The Melnik Pyramids – One of the most interesting natural landmarks in the country. They are rock formations that cover an area of 50 square km. The Melnik Pyramids were declared a natural landmark in 1960. They are conditionally divided into three sections – Melnik, Karlanovski and Rozhen pyramids. Overnight in Sandanski.
Day 7 Rupite-Rila Monastery- Sofia. Rupite is a picturesque area, considered as a holy place, surrounded by a mystical atmosphere. It is related to Prophet Baba Vanga- called the Bulgarian Nostradamus and brings to every visitor a rich energy charge. It is situated on the banks of the Struma River, at the eastern foot of the Kojuh Volcanic Hill, just 10 km from Petrich. In Rupite is located the temple built by Vanga “St. Petka Bulgarska”, which is a place for worship of thousands of believers. The ruins of one of the largest ancient cities of Herakleia Sintikas, which existed since 4th century BC, are also very close. Rila Monastery is definitely a must-see if you are a tourist with a free day in Sofia. Rila Monastery was founded in the 10th century by St John of Rila, a hermit canonized by the Orthodox Church. The arcaded balconies, the unique frescoes – a work of one of the most famous Bulgarian Revival Period painters, the gilded iconostasis, the fabulous mountain view and the unique combination of them all makes the visit to the monastery extraordinary and memorable one. We continue our trip to Sofia for our last good-bye official dinner and overnight.
Day 8- Transfer to the airport.
