You have not even heard of this place, but here thousands of pilgrims and believers come every year. This is a sacred land, a land of legends and faith. A brief story will reveal you the hidden secrets of this holy piece of land.

The hieromonious Athenian hieromonk Gregory called the Middle Rhodopes Crossroads or the Cross Forest. And this means that the place and its inhabitants are protected by the Christ’s Cross.

The symbol of this land is the miraculous Christ’s Cross, used in the past in almost all the rituals of the local population – for sanctification, for healing purposes, during funeral ceremonies, for blessing.

The legend recounts that here was hidden the Cross of Jesus Christ. The Cross was in the Holy Trinity Monastery until the 18th century when the Turks destroyed the building to the ground. Christ’s Cross, however, was saved! Three monks hid it well in one of the nearby caves. The magical power of this land comes from the power of Christ and his Cross, hidden in the depths of the Rhodopes mountain.

Mr Jordan Dryankov, born in Bulgaria, arrived in the city in 1933, and he receives a vision – a cross in the sky. He immediately informed King Boris III for his strange vision. For onenight at Krastova Peak, Jordan Dryankov understands the whole history of the area – once upon a time there was a large monastery and there was kept a fragment of Christ’s cross. In his vision, he was commissioned to build a large metal cross on the top, which he also told to Boris III.

In 1936 Dryankov brought the miraculous cross, which was concreted and illuminated on the eastern hill of the top. A white pigeon alight to the holy water and after that goes to the west hill. Believing in the symbol of white bird, Dryankov and people from the village went to bird’s direction. All of them discovered mountain rock with flowting water.

Another story tells that Dryankov advises the sick sister of Tsar Boris III ,Evdokia to spend only one night in the area. As a result, she is cured. The child of one of the courtiers is healed the same night. As a sign of gratitude, the decision was made and Boris III oreders to build a 66-kilogram Cross, the weigh doubles the age of Christ. The right place of the Cross was indicated by two white pigeons.

The cross, presented by King Boris III, disappears on October 22, 1994. Found in the woods after 7 months by a local shepherd with a note, “We who stole it, we were three, Two of us died, I do not want the same destiny, I will return the cross, hoping that God will have mercy, that this disgrace will not pass over my children and family “) and the Cross is placed in the new temple. In place of the old was cast new Cross stainless steel, 99 kg.

Every Friday, between Saturday and Saturday, between 00.00 and 2.00 hours, the liturgy is held in the temple. Already at 18:00 all are in the meadows awaiting mass. The candles lit in the darkness and the strong faith of the people are a unique sight and feel. After 2:00, a large number of people remain in the meadows with hearts full of faith and eyes full of hope for healing.
