Velingrad – The SPA capital of the Balkans!
Velingrad is a very popular tourist destination, famous for its numerous mineral springs. In terms of abundance and variety of its mineral waters, the city ranks first in Bulgaria. Lake Kleptuza – Lake Kleptuza is the largest karst-type spring in Bulgaria – it is located on the right bank of the Chepinska River, near the mountain slope in the Chepino district, Velingrad. The eponymous park, along with its two lakes is a symbol of the city. Much of its water is used for drinking purposes, and the rest forms two lakes, which flow into the Chepinska River, then into the Maritsa River and the White Sea. To the south of the karst spring stretch pine forests, which have become a natural park visited by residents and its guests, especially during the summer season.
Cave Lepenitsa – Lepenitsa Cave is located 12 km from Velingrad, in the municipality of Rakitovo. It is 1525 meters long and is an extremely attractive tourist site. Unique formations and incredibly beautiful forms have been preserved – stalagmites, stalactites and stalactites, cave ponds, draperies, pearls and roses.
Batak Dam, Tsigov Chark – Batak Dam is the sixth largest in Bulgaria. It is located in the Western Rhodopes. The dam is 4 km from Batak, 12 km from Velingrad and 7 km from Rakitovo. It was built on the Matnitsa River. This is a favorite place for recreation in the mountains, amidst comfort and tranquility and year-round fishing opportunities. The resort of Tsigov Chark is located on the west coast of Batak Dam. During the winter season the resort “Yaz. Batak ”is an attractive place for connoisseurs of winter sports. There is a track built, 1500 meters long. At the bottom is the sloping, suitable for beginners.

Palace Park
Velingrad Historical Museum
In the museum you will find the following departments: Archeology, Revival, Ethnography, New and Recent History and Art Department. The museum has a specially built in 1982 building with spacious and easy to display halls. They present the permanent exhibitions for Vela Peeva, an ethnographic exhibition, an exhibition for Easter painted eggs and an exhibition for Nikolai Gyaurov.
Interactive fountain "The Cup"
The emblem of the SPA capital “The Cup” has been preserved, and an interactive fountain has been built around it with funds from the municipal budget. Under the arias of Nikolai Gyaurov, with sound and light, the fountain delights the visitors of Velingrad.
Velova bath
Velova Banya is one of the most attractive historical monuments in Velingrad. The water temperature here is 43 ° C and is used to treat mostly diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, kidneys, liver and bile, joints and peripheral nervous system. The bath is located in a picturesque park and is a great place for a picnic and a walk.
Kleptuza Park
If you love nature and are looking for new adventures, be sure to visit Kleptuza Dam in Velingrad – a beautiful place in the region of Velingrad. It is one of the most impressive and mysterious natural places in the mountains of Orpheus, which are worth seeing.
