TWO DAYS/ ONE NIGHT TOUR
STARA ZAGORA – CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE

DAY 1 – Stara Zagora welcomes you!

09:00h. Departure from Sofia on the route Sofia-Stara Zagora. 

12:00h. Arrival in Stara Zagora and accommodation in Hotel Best Boutique 4*. Time for rest and optional walk around the city. 

13:30/14:00h. Lunch in Stara Zagora.

16:00h. Visit to the Defenders of Stara Zagora Memorial Complex – Samara flag for a photo stop. The memorial complex is part of the Hundred National Historic Sites. The monument reveals a breathtaking panoramic view of the city. 

16:30h. Visit to the proto-Bulgarian school Baga Tour located in the region of Stara Zagora and next to the Zoo. On site you will have an interactive lecture where you will be introduced to the idea of the school and its history. You will attend a demonstration of fencing, archery from the ground and a horse, javelin throwing, whipping and more. You will then have hands-on training and participate in various training games. 

18:30/19:00h. Dinner and optional exploring the nightlife in Stara Zagora. Overnight.

 

DAY 2 – City tour of the city – Visit to the Midalidare winery – Sofia

08:30h. Breakfast. Release of the hotel.

10:00h. Today you will be acquainted with the cultural and historical heritage of the city. You will visit several of the most important landmarks with a professional guide.

Consecutively according to the program you will visit:

  • Regional History Museum – Awarded for building of the year at its opening in 2009. Guide talk “Stara Zagora from antiquity to the present – 8 thousand years we leave our mark”.
  • Ancient Forum Complex “Augusta Trayana” – The Forum Complex is located near the western gate of the ancient city of Augusta Trayana. Today it is a stage for performances of the Stara Zagora Opera, as well as for festivals and open-air concerts. We will walk along the main shopping street decumanus maximus.
  • Late antique mosaic in a private Roman house from the IV century – The exquisite mosaic is located in the reception hall of a rich Roman house near the main shopping street. 
  • Museum “Neolithic Dwellings” – the most ancient and best preserved dwellings of the Neolithic Age, inhabited in the VI millennium BC, which have been discovered so far in Europe.

15:30h. Departure from Stara Zagora and head west of the city for your last visit, but not in importance, namely – Midalidare Estate complex. Here you will get acquainted with the process of wine production and you will see the only cellar in which sparkling wine is made by a special method. A tasting of some of the best wines of Midalidare will complement your experience.  

17:30/18:00h. Departure from Stara Zagora area to Sofia. 

20:00h. Arrival in Sofia.
