The memory of an era
One of the monuments that is interesting for tourists is definitely Buzludza. With its unique shape and perched on the ridge of the mountain is especially attractive to visitors from around the world. As you travel on the road Kazanlak – Shipka you will see the building high in the mountains.
Its special shape attracts a lot of attention. A spaceship is the first association that comes to people’s minds when they see the big tower and the plate. Behind the obvious nature of the visual image there is an interesting purpose and use in communist times. In the past, more precisely in 1868, on Buzludzha peak (1432 m) a battle was fought between the Bulgarian rebels of Hadji Dimitar’s detachment and the Ottoman Empire.
The aim is to preserve a cultural heritage, an architectural value, for future generations. There is an idea to expose different historical stages from the creation of Bulgaria to the present day in an interesting way.
The initiator of the idea for the revival of Buzludzha as a cultural monument is the architect Dora Ivanova, who together with a group of young specialists have prepared a whole plan for work on the monument, its restoration and preservation.
The site is included in the Shipka-Buzludzha National Park-Museum, which has been declared a historical and architectural reserve.
The monument is included in the list of “The most beautiful places in the world”, sealing the memory of an era.
