Day 1   – Sofia city tour 

Arrival on the airport, transfer and guided tour in Sofia.

Day  2 – MONASTERY TOUR

Etropole Monastery also known as “Varovitec” (because of the limestone stone with which the monastery church was built) was founded in the Middle Ages (1158). In the 16th and 17th centuries., The Etropole Monastery is one of the most important literary and educational centers in the Bulgarian lands, as the famous Etropole Calligraphic and Artistic Literary School arose and developed in it. The Etropole monastery was visited by Vasil Levski ( national Bulgarian hero called the Apostle fought for liberation of Bulgarian lands from the Ottomans) and even the hiding place of the Apostle has been preserved.

The Glozhene Monastery is one of the strangest and most distinctive Bulgarian monasteries. The monastery looks like a fortress and, like the ancient fortresses, has a very rich history. It is believed to have been created in the 13th century by the Kiev prince Georgi Glozh. It is known that in the XV-XVI monastery was renovated. In the 17th century, a monastery school began to function in the monastery. In the middle of the 19th century the Glozhene monastery gave refuge to a number of our revolutionaries, among whom was the Apostle Levski.

The Chekotin Monastery “St. Archangel Michael” was founded during the Second Bulgarian State. The complex consists of a church, residential and farm buildings, as well as the chapel “St. Gennady” surrounded by an impressive wall.

Day  3 – OFF-ROAD

Off-road transition to the Thracian fortress “Cherti grad”, which is a cultural monument of national importance and is included in Natura 2000, with the aim of protecting forest vegetation and rock complexes inhabited by rare mammals and birds. It is located at 1284 m above sea level, surrounded on all sides by steep cliffs, up to 100 m high, which makes it difficult to access and easy to defend. The fortress is separated from the ridge by a narrow isthmus, on which a wall was built, the remains of which with a height of 2.50 m are still visible today. The only accessible place is on its southwestern side and only there is a massive fortress wall made of medium-sized quarry stones without solder.

Day 4 – CAVES TOUR

Breakfast and visiting of :

Saeva Dupka cave consists of 5 halls, the largest of which is the hall of the Landslide. The first hall after the entrance is Kupena, so named because of the characteristic formation in the shape of a haystack. The second hall is the Landslide – it was formed during a big earthquake and is strewn with stone blocks. The next halls are Harmana, White Castle and Cosmos. Saeva hole is extremely beautiful – here are all kinds of cave formations – stalactites, stalagmites, sinter lakes, draperies and more. With its walls and ceiling covered with stone ornaments, the cave creates the feeling that visitor is in a cathedral.       

Prohodna Cave, which is extremely impressive, is also the longest cave tunnel in the country (262 m). In 1962 it was declared as a natural landmark.

Day  5 – PHOTO SAFARI

Photo safaris in area where many different species of animals can be seen and photographed in their natural environment, such as: Red deer, Wild boar, Mouflon, Deer and roe deer, Lopatar and Predators.

Day 6 – CRAFT TOUR

Breakfast

Visit to the architectural and ethnographic complex “Etara”, which is the only open-air ethnographic museum in the Balkans. If a person crosses its borders, modernity disappears in order to give way to the Revival architecture, the national culinary specialties and the way of life of the old Bulgarians. and acquaintance with Bulgarian crafts.

Bulgarian traditional evening and dinner. We will  involve you in a traditional Bulgarian atmosphere.
